Spiritual Life at IWU

Find Your Way Forward

Become a Disciple of Jesus

At the core of the IWU experience is the opportunity you will have to grow spiritually and engage in a Christian community. Indiana Wesleyan offers engaging worship in Chapel, meaningful connection in small groups, and supportive faculty who will take the time to talk to you and pray with you.

We prioritize the SPIRITUAL FORMATION HOUR every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 10:05 a.m. During this hour, three days a week, our community pauses to worship, learn from God’s Word, connect with each other, engage in spiritual practices, and grow spiritually.

We believe God loves every student and desires to speak into their lives, no matter where they are on their spiritual journey.

Spiritual Formation Opportunities

Campus students are required to accrue 28 spiritual formation credits over the course of the semester: 15 must come from Chapel services, and the remaining can come from any mixture of Chapel, small groups, or small worship gatherings (like FCA, Awaken, etc).

Campus students can pick and choose from the following spiritual formation credit options to accrue their 28 spiritual formation credits.

Mondays and Fridays (and occasionally Wednesdays) at 10:05 a.m.

(minimum of 15 Chapel services are required for residential students)

Small Groups are approved through the Spiritual Formation Office, and meet Wednesdays at 10:05 a.m. (and sometimes, throughout the week.)
Small, weekly worship gatherings (that are approved through the Spiritual Formation Office,) such as Awaken, Coram Deo, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Delight, etc.

Faith Integration Groups (FIGs) provide meaningful and practical growth opportunities while earning indirect spiritual formation credit. FIGs are geared toward topics such as Biblical Finances, Relationships & Sabbath.

These groups meet on Wednesdays at 10:05 a.m. during the last 4 weeks of the semester.

Three days set aside at the beginning of each semester for spiritual emphasis. We gather for morning & evening chapel services to worship together, hear God's Word through powerful messages, and take time to surrender ourselves to the growth God has for each of us as we prepare to walk faithfully through a new semester.
