Dominican Republic

Geared specifically towards IWU students with a major or interest in education for children with exceptional needs, this group will travel to Genesis Centro Especial, a school in Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic. Facilitated by Students International missions organization, the experience allows you to serve as an aid in classrooms with students ages 5-21 with a range of disabilities, from mild to profound. The only school of its kind in Jarabacoa, Genesis offers not only education to students, but also support for parents, community-based instructions, small class sizes, and a wealth of opportunities for all involved to engage with, learn from, and grow with students, parents, families, teachers, and administration. IWU students who participate will find themselves challenged to grow in new and exciting ways.

Eastern Europe

Shadow Global Partners missionaries with their ongoing work in this region of Eastern Europe. Student team members will assist in community development efforts, participate in English tutoring sessions, and explore coffee as an avenue for relationship formation. This trip is also an opportunity to network with and learn from people engaged in long-term ministry outside their native countries.

Russia

In partnership with Global Partners, travel to Russia to help run a summer camp for local children. This camp is part of existing community development efforts on the part of local leaders. The focus will be on developing relationships with the camp attendees and learning from local leadership about community work in a Russian context. Then, the trip will end with a day of touring in Moscow.

Zambia

IWU choirs will minister through choral performances throughout Zambia, special events designed by the local church, and personal interactions within compounds in the city of Choma. In addition, music therapy majors will use music to minister to children, adolescents, adults and the elderly with physical, emotional, cognitive, social, and spiritual needs. This team will serve, love, minister and pray for individuals at local hospitals and treatment centers as well as our partner ministries and churches.

Zambia

Zambia waterfall

Students will participate in the 2025 Poetice Missions Retreat in Choma, Zambia. In addition to growing spiritually through missions and discipleship training, they will have the opportunity to use music to minister to children, adolescents, adults and the elderly with physical, emotional, cognitive, social, and spiritual needs. This team will serve, love, minister and pray for individuals in local hospitals, treatment centers, and communities while developing skills needed for future work as music therapists and music ministers.
