Music scholarships are available to full-time music majors who as entering freshmen have a B (3.0 GPA) average and a satisfactory audition. Upperclassmen may audition in the spring each year if they have a 3.2 average in music courses; a 2.75 overall GPA; and make no grade lower than C. Scholarships may be upgraded in the upperclassmen auditions in the spring for the upcoming year.
Students are required to submit three recommendation forms from former or current music teachers, music directors, or other musicians who can verify a student's readiness to study music at the collegiate level.
Auditions must be completed by March 1.
Scholarship awards will be made as close to March 15 as possible.

RSVP + Select Audition TimeslotQuestions? Please contact the Music Department:
music-recruit@indwes.eduYou should be prepared to perform two selections in contrasting styles, from different historical eras if possible. These should display a variety of tempo and dynamics, as well as demonstrate your ability and range. Memorized performances are preferred. Vocal auditions should include one piece in a foreign language and the second piece in English (may include English art song, aria, or musical theatre selection) with live piano accompaniment. Total performance time should not exceed fifteen minutes. Accompaniment tapes are not permitted; an accompanist will be provided if needed.
Appropriate attire is recommended ( no jeans).
* To submit a video audition, please post your video to YouTube (public or unlisted) and send a link via email to music-recruit@indwes.edu.
Please use the following format for your email subject line “IWU Music Audition Video – Your Name – Submission Date” (ex. “IWU Music Audition Video – John Smith – 01/31/2020”).
The song should be of the type intended for the concert repertory, as distinct from folk or popular song. An art song is a setting of a text of high literary quality and, unlike most folk and popular songs, includes an accompaniment that is specified by the composer rather than improvised or arranged by/for the performer. The art song is often in a foreign language, which could include French, Italian, German, Latin, or Spanish. An opera or oratorio aria may be substituted for an art song.
Two contrasting pieces: one in a foreign language, and the second in English (may include English art song, aria, or musical theatre selection) with live piano accompaniment.
Please notify the Music Department as soon as possible if you do not have an accompanist and one will be provided for you.
