FAQs

Please contact Director of Athletic Bands, Briana Blankenship (briana.blankenship@indwes.edu) with additional questions.

Membership is open to IWU–Marion students, with auditions that occur throughout the year.

Members typically have prior marching experiences in high school ensembles. If you are not a music major, this is not a problem. We welcome members from all majors and areas of study.

All marching band members must go through an audition process.

The marching band season runs concurrently with the football season. The Marching Wildcats play at all home football games, select away games, and occasional parades and functions.
While high schools tend to compete throughout the fall season, marching band competitions do not exist at the University level. Nevertheless, the Marching Wildcats will strive to put on the best show each and every week to entertain IWU fans.
  • Create friendships that can last for years as you make music with your fellow band members.
  • Scholarships are available for all IWU Marching Band members:
  • Brass: Trumpets, Mellophones, Trombones, Baritones, Sousaphones
  • Woodwinds: Flutes, Piccolos, Clarinets, Saxophones
  • Percussion: Snares, Bass Drums, Toms, Cymbals, Mallet Instruments (Front Ensemble)
  • The band also has a Color Guard, and at least one drum major
