Faculty Profile
Angela K. Leffler came to Indiana Wesleyan University in 2008 after teaching elementary students in Marion, Indiana. She brings 10 years teaching experience in which she taught first, third and fourth grades. Among the college-level courses Angela teaches are Mathematics Methods, Science Methods Classroom Management, and Foundations in Early Childhood. In addition, she supervises both student teachers and practicum pre-service teachers where she desires to assist them in including excellent pedagogy into their lesson planning and instructional opportunities. In 2014, Angela completed her doctoral program at Ball State University in Elementary Education with a cognate in literacy.
Angela's current interests are writing to learn in science in the classroom climate where standards and high stakes testing often dictate the departure of science being taught in elementary classrooms. Her dissertation is titled, Writing in the Elementary Science Classroom: Teacher Beliefs and Practices Within a Narrowing Curriculum.
