Kent Williams, CPA, CGMA, was presented with the 2018 CPA Center of Excellence® Award. The annual Indiana CPA Society Awards recognize CPAs with active licenses in good standing who have demonstrated excellence in serving the profession, company, community, and public interest.

BIOGRAPHY

Kent has been a full-time faculty member in the Division of Business since the fall of 1995. His main areas of teaching responsibilities include accounting, entrepreneurship and business ethics. Kent has been instrumental in developing and launching the Entrepreneurship major at Indiana Wesleyan University in the fall of 2005. Prior to his tenure at IWU, he held several corporate accounting and tax positions.

INTERESTS

Kent is the former Chair of the Indiana CPA Society's Board of Directors. He previously served as the Chair of the Indiana CPA Society's Professional Ethics Committee. He is also a member of the AICPA and currently serves on the AICPA's Council. Over the last several years, he has been involved with issues related to the future of competency in the accounting profession, the accounting professions responsibility to the public, and has presented at conferences on ethics related to the accounting profession.

The CPA Center of Excellence® award was established in 2017 to recognize an individual or firm embodying excellence through collaboration, development of business (“soft”) skills and a competency-based approach to lifelong learning. 
“CPAs are often the ones working behind-the-scenes to make their companies and clients more successful,” said INCPAS President & CEO Jennifer Briggs, CAE. “We appreciate the colleagues who noticed and nominated these members who have made truly exceptional contributions to the profession. The Society looks forward to spotlighting them at this year’s CPA Celebration!” 
Winners for all award categories were honored at the CPA Celebration at the Indiana Roof Ballroom on May 11, 2018. Categories include Advocacy, Building Bridges to the Profession, Community Service, CPA Center of Excellence®, Distinguished Service, Emerging Leaders, and Innovation.
