Faculty Profile
Nancy Reyes is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Applied Spanish and Hispanic Culture within the Division of Modern Languages, Literatures and Communication.
Dr. Reyes received her B.S. in Elementary Education from Peabody College of Vanderbilt University, M.A. for Teachers from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, M.A. in Hispanic Linguistics from Purdue University, and PhD in Applied Hispanic Linguistics from Purdue University. She has 10 years of teaching experience in higher education and extensive cultural experience gained by living in Mexico, Spain, and south Texas. Two of her teaching goals are to guide Spanish students toward the ability to communicate information, ideas, and emotions in the Spanish language and to promote the ability to relate to the thoughts and customs of others.
Her research interests include the examination of Second Language Acquisition, Bilingualism, Child language development and acquisition, Heritage language development, and Second Language pedagogy.
