Faculty Profile
Dr. DeKoninck is an Associate Professor in the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program, School of Integrated Health.
Previously, Dr DeKoninck taught in the Nurse Practitioner Program at Indiana Wesleyan University and University of Saint Francis. Dr. DeKoninck was the Associate Dean of Graduate Programs at Averett University from 2019-2021.
Having grown up between Georgia and South Carolina, Dr. DeKoninck received her BSN from Georgia Baptist College of nursing, and MSN/FNP from Emory University in 1996. Beth finished her DNP at Vanderbilt University in 2013.
Beth has a wide practice experience as a family nurse practitioner for almost 30 years and has worked in rural family practice settings, emergency rooms, as a hospitalist and in urgent care, where she currently maintains an active practice. Dr. DeKoninck also served with the U.S. Department of State, Foreign Service, in Abuja Nigeria from 2007-2009.
Dr. DeKoninck loves serving across the world in medical missions and has worked in Haiti, Sierra Leone, Myanmar and Sri Lanka along with volunteering in homeless clinics in Atlanta, Georgia for many years during her undergraduate and graduate education.
Beth has published and spoken at conferences, both in the U.S. and abroad, on topics such as spiritual care practices of nurse practitioners, skin cancer screening in free clinics, obesity, interprofessional teams and other healthcare topics. Her professional interests include trauma-informed care and helping patients, especially women, recognize their value as a human being created in the image of God. She is passionate about living a life of purpose.
Dr. DeKoninck and her husband reside in Middle Tennessee and love spending time with their two children/in-laws and four grandgirls. It is her great honor to work with DNP students as they strive toward a new level of expertise in their profession.
