Sandy Horton

Dr. Horton is a Professor for Indiana Wesleyan University's Masters Nursing program in the School of Nursing. Sandy earned her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2015, her MSN in Nursing Administration from University of Phoenix in 1999, and her BSN from Olivet Nazarene University in 1987.  Sandy has 10 years of medical surgical experience with 8 years in management of a bowel surgery and short stay unit.  The next twelve years of her hospital experience were in corporate project management positions over documentation compliance, parish nursing, standardization of nursing processes, and reporting of nursing quality indicators.  

Sandy and her husband have two boys. They live west of Chicago and enjoy traveling, music, entertaining, and spending time together as a family.

INTERESTS

Since transitioning into nursing education in 2010, Sandy has developed an expertise in the development and student writing skills and faculty grading skills.  Sandy has participated in academic trips to La Gonave, Haiti as a doctoral student and a faculty member working to improve maternal/infant mortality through education of lay midwives.
