Scott Burson has been a faculty member at Indiana Wesleyan University for more than a dozen years. Scott teaches courses in philosophy and theology, and serves as the coordinator for the sports ministry major. Prior to joining the School of Theology and Ministry, Scott was IWU's Assistant Vice President for Marketing for six years. Scott completed his doctorate at Brunel University (London). His doctoral thesis is entitled "Apologetics and the New Kind of Christian: An Arminian Analysis of Brian D. McLaren's Emergent Reconstruction of the Faith."

INTERESTS

Scott is the author of All About the Bass: Searching for Treble in the Midst of a Pounding Culture War (Cascade, 2021) and Brian McLaren in Focus: A New Kind of Apologetics (Abilene Christian University Press, 2016). He is also the co-author (with Dr. Jerry L. Walls) of Holistic Apologetics: Advancing the Gospel with Moral, Emotional, Social, and Rational Intelligence (Baker Academic, 2022) and C.S. Lewis and Francis Schaeffer: Lessons for a New Century from the Most Influential Apologists of Our Time (InterVarsity Press, 1998), which has been translated into Korean, Indonesian, and Portuguese. Every other year, Scott teaches a popular Philosophy and Theology of C.S. Lewis class that includes a spring break trip to Oxford and London, England. Scott has published more than 40 articles in a wide variety of periodicals and has been inducted into the International Society of Theta Phi, an honor society for theological students, scholars in the field of religion, and outstanding religious leaders. He is a member of the Society of Christian Philosophers, the Wesleyan Theological Society, and Heterodox Academy.
