Sheila Leis, Assistant Professor in Indiana Wesleyan University's Post-licensure Nursing program, earned a Master of Science, Nursing (Administration), from Wright State University, Dayton, OH, a Bachelor of Science, Nursing from College of Mount St. Joseph, Cincinnati, OH, and a Diploma in Nursing from Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing, Dayton, OH. She has taught in nursing programs since 2006 and for IWU School of Nursing since 2011.
Her professional experience includes 15+ years as a Professional Development Specialist at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio, a 700+ bed Magnet hospital. She has previous experience as a nurse manager (renal- diabetes unit) and has been certified in Medical-surgical nursing for over 25 years. She enjoys leadership and management. One of her passions is mentoring young leaders and helping them benefit from her leadership experience.
Sheila has been married since 1988 to her wonderful husband, Mike, who works in the field of information technology. She often tells people that they speak 2 different languages (medical and computer) and that she has her own personal computer "help desk". Together they have 2 daughters- Kelsey and Courtney, live on a farm and like being outdoors. They also enjoy traveling and being together with family and friends. Sheila loves to play piano and serves as a worship pianist and sings in the choir at her church, Salem Church of God. She also leads a Lifegroup study for young Moms, following the encouragement of Titus 2.
