Make Your Impact in the Parent Council

Founded in 2024, the IWU Parent Council is comprised of parents and grandparents of both current and former students, working with SGA to raise money for projects, assist communication, volunteer for events, and turn ideas into reality.

The establishment of the IWU Parent Council reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to a close-knit and long-lasting community wherein even the grandparents of alumni can play a role in influencing the future of the university.

Jeff ‘82 and Kay ‘82 Alter

Hello, we are Jeff and Kay Alter and we are passionate about God, our family, and IWU athletics. We are a 3 generation IWU family. Kay's parents, Marvin & Hazel Hinds graduated in 1950 & 1949. We are proud members of the Class of 1982 and our children, Jeffrey Alter and Christi Horn graduated in 2010 and 2012. (Now we are working on our grandchildren). We love this place because of the commitment to the mission to change the world by developing students in character, scholarship, and leadership. We are serving on the inaugural Parent Council and are here to help.

amber danny hines

Amber ’01 and Danny ‘23 Hines

Hello! We are Danny and Amber Hines, and we are passionate about ministry and education. Danny is a full-time senior pastor, and Amber is the Assistant Principal at Winchester Community High School in Winchester, Indiana. Amber is an alumnus of IWU (B.S. in Music Education in 2001, Master of School Administration in 2023).

Our oldest son, Caleb Hines holds a Bachelor of Science in Worship Arts and Music Ministry from IWU and is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity at Wesley Seminary. Caleb’s wife, Kevalina, holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Pastoral Counseling and Care (IWU 2023) and is working toward her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at IWU National and Global. Our second son, Levi Hines, is a freshman at IWU double majoring in Psychology and Pastoral Counseling and Care. Both of our sons are members of the IWU Chorale. Our two lovely daughters, Madelyn and Julia, are looking forward to attending IWU in the future as God allows. For now, both girls love cheer, dance, and musicals.

We love IWU because the culture of learning with a Christ-like purpose is paramount to the development of students as they become adults. When students can understand how to make a faith-driven impact in the world regardless of their career choice, they will become world changers. We are serving on the inaugural IWU Parent Council and are here to help.
