This page details the international student transfer process and will answer many of your doubts and questions. We encourage you to refer back to this page throughout the enrollment process.

Enrollment Process for Intl. Transfer Students

  1. Submit your application on the IWU Application Portal
  2. Submit all required documents for admission

Your application portal account will indicate that your file has been submitted for admission review. You will receive an email with an admissions decision or if additional information is required.

Transfer Credits

*Optional: If you have any credits from a US institution you wish to transfer, you may submit an official transcript for review. Click Here to learn more about transfer credit

  1. Access your admit letter by logging into your application portal account.
  2. Request your SEVIS record be transferred to Indiana Wesleyan:
    • IWU SEVIS CAMPUS IDs:
      • Bachelors: CHI214F04680005
      • Masters: CHI214F04680005
      • Doctorate: CHI214F04680002
  3. Complete the required financial clearance items for registration. These items are posted in your application portal account.
    • Your program start date listed on your admit letter is your first day of classes.

Indiana Wesleyan International students are automatically fully registered once cleared by the Accounting team.

Here are the next steps to be ready for class:

  1. Access your IWU Student Portal Account
  2. Access Brightspace (Brightspace is accessed via the ISP Student Portal page)
    • Your courses will load approximately one week before your next set of courses begins.
  3. Review new student orientation materials in your IWU Student Portal account
    • Information regarding live orientation sessions will be emailed to you separately.
*Note: Textbooks will be sent to you automatically prior to each course via the Indiana Wesleyan Slingshot service.

The Terra Dotta platform is your home for International Student Services such as your I-20, Letter requests, OPT & CPT management.

For transfer students, Terra Dotta can be accessed via your IWU Student Portal Account once you are financially cleared and registered for classes.

  1. Complete the Terra Dotta orientation steps and forms to request your I-20.
    • The IWU DSO team will process your I-20 in a timely manner.

 

*Note: Transfer I-20s are available after the student has completed financial clearance steps and been registered for classes.

  • SEVIS Transfer students should complete the Intake and the Check-In stages in Terra Dotta to secure their IWU I-20.

Transfer Your Credits

Applicants can submit official transcripts from by contacting their previous institutions and requesting they send a transcript record by either:

Credit is granted for undergraduate coursework:

  • Completed with a satisfactory grade (“C” or above)
  • Course was 100-level, or higher 
  • Course was taken at a college or university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

Indiana Wesleyan will transfer any credits you hold that meet these criteria. All IWU students transferring credits, should review the graduation criteria of their specific program.

Students can review degree completion options with their academic advisor once all transcripts have been reviewed.

Credit is granted for undergraduate coursework:

  • Completed with a satisfactory grade (“B” or above)
  • Course was 500-level, or higher 
  • Course was taken at a college or university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

Indiana Wesleyan will transfer any credits you hold that meet these criteria. All IWU students transferring credits, should review the graduation criteria of their specific program.

*Note:

  • Courses must be considered a duplicate of the IWU course being replaced
  • No more than 35% of a program’s requirements may be transferred
