The ASN-MSN in Primary Care Nursing with a Specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing is designed to prepare registered nurses as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNP) for independent and interprofessional clinical practice to treat psychiatric mental health conditions of people across the lifespan. Through a comprehensive curriculum, students holding an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree will be able to obtain a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree, allowing them to specialize in a specific area of nursing and pursue advanced practice roles in less time than it would take to first earn a bachelor’s. Students learn essential decision-making skills and take direct accountability for diagnosing and treating individuals with psychiatric mental health and co-occurring medical conditions. Graduates who complete this collegiate nursing education will be equipped with the skills required to become adept health practitioners working in advanced nursing practice.
